Child Benefit Increases

Child Benefit Increase for all Bristol families

Bristol Fights Back

This week all families in Bristol will benefit from the increase in Child Benefit from £18.80 to £20 per week for the first child and from £12.55 to £13.20 per week for all other children.

Sam Townend, Labour’s prospective MP for Bristol North West and anti-poverty campaigner said,

“This is really good news and will help families who are struggling in the current economic turndown.  I see this as fitting in well with the Evening Post’s Bristol Fights Back Campaign.  It will pay for a loaf of bread or a couple of pints of milk every week- not much for some- but it will make a difference for many.

Every pensioner will also get an extra one-off payment of £60 on top of the £10 Christmas bonus this month.

All political parties should try to propose measures like these to help people during this most difficult time.  I am sorry that at the moment the Tories and Lib Dems have decided to oppose Labour’s Pre Budget Report which put forward these obviously good policies.”

Promoted by Ray Collins, General Secretary, the Labour Party, on behalf of the Labour Party, both at 39 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0HA.
