Labour candidate slams Lib Dems for dodgy campaigning
Sam Townend, Labour’s Prospective MP for Bristol North West has slammed the Liberal Democrat MP for Bristol West, Stephen Williams, and his Lib Dem opponent, Paul Harrod, for their dodgy campaigning.
Sam Townend said, “I have asked the Lib Dems to explain why their latest newssheet, said to be being delivered across half of Bristol, contains as its headline the lie that Labour has axed 91 Bristol bobbies in the last year when the chief police officer for Bristol, ACC Long, has confirmed that, in fact, the number of officers in Bristol over that period has increased by 51.
I have also asked them to explain their involvement in sending out this misleading information and to stop delivering any more. I cannot understand why they will not confirm they will stop delivering this leaflet!”
This inaccurate campaigning comes on top of Stephen Williams MP being reprimanded by the parliamentary authorities for promoting Paul Harrod, the candidate for Bristol North West, in a recent parliamentary report paid for by the taxpayer. The report featured three pictures of Mr Harrod and also named him.
Sam said, “Nothing seems to be below the Lib Dems in Bristol. Stephen Williams acted completely contrary to parliamentary rules. Taxpayers money should not be used for party political campaigning. Just because they are the third party the Lib Dems seem to think they can get away with saying and doing anything in order to get votes. When will they stop this dodgy campaigning?”
