Labour Candidate Volunteers…
As part of National Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) Sam Townend, Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Bristol North West is “going on the buses”.

On Thursday 5th June 2008 Sam is helping out on the community buses of Lawrence Weston Community Transport during their regular passenger trips helping people with mobility needs who cannot walk to the regular bus stops themselves in and around Lawrence Weston.

Sam said,

“I am glad to be helping out in Lawrence Weston doing my bit as part of National Volunteer’s Week.  Lawrence Weston Community Transport is a hugely valuable community resource.  They are managed and mostly staffed by volunteers from the area so they are a fantastic resource to celebrate Volunteers Week with.

So many people in Bristol voluntarily give up their time for free, whether for charities, as school governors or parent associations, church, community or amenity groups.  It is good to take this time to celebrate and thank them for their work.”

Terry Hopkins, Project Manager of Lawrence Weston Community Transport, said:
“As far as I am concerned the volunteers who work for Lawrence Weston Community Transport are dedicated and brilliant.”
