New Years Message

Can I urge all Post readers in the year ahead to consider a New Year Resolution to donate blood through Bristol's excellent blood donation service. As you reported a week ago fewer donors have been coming forward to give blood than at this time last year and during the festive period blood stocks decline rapidly. While stocks are not at crisis point they are roughly half what they are at the peak. As many of us as possible therefore need to step up and donate. My New Year Resolution is therefore to donate blood at least twice over the coming year (you can donate every 16 weeks). Blood donation sessions are regularly organised in and around workplaces throughout Bristol and there is also the permanent set up on Southmead Road. Call 0845 7711 711 or look on www.blood.co.uk for more details or to book an appointment. Giving a pint of blood is free, pleasant (tea and biscuits provided!), does not take long and is so essential for those in hospital who need blood. Please do it! Can I also wish all your readers a happy and, hopefully, prosperous New Year.
