Post office card account decision

Post Office Card Account decision

“Great for Bristol”

Sam Townend, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Bristol North West, supports the government’s decision to award the new contract for the Post Office Card Account to the Post office.

“This decision by the Government is great for Bristol.  Coupled with the commitment by Trade Secretary, Lord Mandelson, to look to award other business to the Post Office, including allowing them to offer more financial services, the future for Bristol’s Post Offices looks much brighter than it has for many years” Sam said.

Sam Townend, who campaigned against the recent round of post office closures in Bristol, also said, “In these difficult times people need local services they can rely on.  The Post Office is a very good example of a valuable local service acting as a centre for the local community.  I hope the latest round of Post Office closures will be the last.  That should be ensured if people keep using their local post office as much as possible.”
